Natural
Wood pellets and EcoCoal are both an all natural fuel, made from a combination of sawdust and wood shavings, with no additives or artificial binding agents. They hold their form with natural lignin.
Renewable
Wood pellets and EcoCoal are both a renewable source of energy. Wood is formed in 3 to 30 years, compared to thousands or even millions of years for fossil fuels and so it is a sustainable fuel choice. The use of wood energy, makes it possible to save fossil energies whose stocks are limited (oil, gas, coal, uranium).
Carbon neutral
The use of wood energy aids in combating climate change. The consumption of fossil fuels causes the heating of the planet through the release of greenhouse gases. Wood, however, is carbon neutral because the quantity of carbon dioxide released when the pellets are burned is equal to the amount the tree consumed when it was growing.
Efficient
Wood pellets are a high energy fuel. Two main effects of pelletising are decreased moisture content and an increased bulk (and thus energy) density, allowing them to be burned at a very high combustion efficiency. High efficiency means fewer trips to the shed and lower fuel bills!
Easy to Store
The density of the wood pellets permits compact storage. Four times more pellet fuel can be stored in a given space than cordwood/woodchips. This makes them easy to store in a small area of a dry garage, shed or utility room.
Clean
Wood pellets and EcoCoal provide a very clean alternative to fossil fuels and can be handled easily without any mess. No dust or dirt is brought into the home. Ash levels are extremely low and the small amount of ash that remains can be used as a high grade fertiliser in the garden. Pellets are also a smoke free fuel and have been proven to provide the cleanest burn of any solid fuel.
Easy to use
Wood pellets lend themselves to being used in automated systems as they are uniform in shape and can be handled by conveyors. Hence they can match oil and gas in terms of convenience to the user.
Inexpensive
To use wood-energy is to benefit from a competitive fuel. Wood is one of the least expensive fuels on the majority of the markets of the world.
Stable price
Wood fuel is not only inexpensive but it also has a stable price. The price of firewood has not moved overall for the last 20 years and since 2004 it is stagnant. It is not subject to environmental taxes as opposed to fossil energies.
Recycling
Pellet fuel and EcoCoal is often made from waste products, such as manufacturing excess. To use wood energy, it is to recycle the waste of companies working with wood. Such access to high quality raw materials at a stable cost level has facilitated in securing the production of high quality pellets!
